Let’s talk about Jesus

I love the beauty of summer and colors that it brings

Kent True, Eliza True, Lisa Holes, Grandma Holes, William Holes go to the Public Market in Boise to hand out tracts and tell people about the Joy of the Lord!

Translator and brother in Christ Alex on left, brother Pavel center, and Don Karns on right. We enjoyed and authentic Russian meal after the first service in Vancouver Washington. I preached on evangelism and sharing our faith to over 400 believers for the main service and two hundred youth for the second service.

Aaron Loos and wife Alice came up to Don and me in Seattle while we preached on the corner at the Pikes Place Public Market. They brought us out to dinner as well after preaching. What a blessing to meet saints in the streets.

No more rabbits. Our rabbits were like pets that would take off and come back each day. It was really fun until they went into the neighbors garden and ate some of the yummy fresh vegetables. They are now on a farm enjoying the freedom of country living.

Just a quick update…Lots of people are talking about end times, and how horrible things are around the globe, and we will be suffering persecution soon, and it just gives us that much more reason to tell people about Jesus!  But isn’t the Lord good!  Really, isn’t He?  I rejoice that I have been able to preach right here in Boise for the last few weeks.    There are just too many stories to mention here of people asking questions, to praying with people, to singing to encouraging the saints. My schedule is pretty much the same, I continue to go out on Wednesday evenings, Friday nights to the clubs, Saturdays at the market, and Saturday nights to the clubs. Sign holding has been on kind of a back burner only because mornings and evenings are taken up by home life lately.  I hope to get back out there though so please keep that in prayer for us.  I found a great intersection locally that people slow down and read the signs!  If they stop at the light I can have a brief conversation with them, so that is great.  One guy recently parked his car and came over to me to ask questions.  He has been calling me on the phone ever since!

A couple of weeks ago Don Karns flew out here to Boise to preach and share the gospel in Boise along with the cities of Seattle, Government Camp Oregon, and Portland.  It was a wonderful time of evangelism. Oh we had our typical situations of people not wanting to hear about Jesus, throwing our signs, pushing us, spitting on us, police trying to bully us… but for the most part we just kept pressing on.  We got to camp three nights while traveling and also stay at Neil and Jess Hess’s house in Portland.  Don is probably the easiest person to travel with and at almost 60 years of age he is like the ever ready  bunnie.  I think my favorite place that we preached was in Government Camp Oregon.  This is a one road town that houses hundreds of young athletes from around the world that ski and snowboard on the palmer snowfiel of Mt. Hood Oregon in the summer.  I have always had a passion to want to tell these kids about Christ but haven’t been able to get out there in the summer til now.  I used to train at Mt. Hood as an athlete and coach at Hood for many years. So its almost like going home.  We had several great responses and the gospel was declared and tracts and Bibles were handed out.  I saw three coaches that I spent many years in the industry with.  Two of them I had some good conversation with!

A few years ago I met a Russian brother named Pavel while I was in Portland preaching.  We have kept in touch and when I go to there to preach we try to sow seeds together in the streets and at the market on Saturday.  This time was no exception.  He brings young people with him from his church to preach and to hand out tracts .  The Russians and Ukranians are so willing to share the Gospel.  Well, Pavel asked me this time to peach at the evening service to the entire congregation of over 400 people and additionally preach to the youth at the youth service. That is quite a crowd of believers to preach to and it was a bit difficult at the adult service to have a translator but the youth I could speak to in english.  Basically I tried to encourage everybody to share the gospel more.  Regardless of age we all need to tell more people the Good News.  I looked out at those stoic men and old ladies with their scarves covering their heads and those huge eastern european calfs and thought, wow Lord, can you imagine if these men and ladies could get fired up for Jesus and want to tell more people about you?  Well, after the service one of those ladies came up to me.  She said she wants to do more for Jesus.  Wow, that is an answer to prayer.  We discussed the possibility of her having a neighborhood Bible study for women, and she loved the idea.  She said she didn’t know if her english was good enough and I explained that the Lord would help her, amen. Way to go God. These Russians are very old school and I loved it.  They sing these strong, moving hymns and melodies in their thick accents while harmonizing.  BEEEEUUUUTIful.

My new Gospel tract is printed and I think it turned out very nice.  If you need one designed you might try www.onemilliontracts.org and talk to Marv.  He did a great job for me.  Of course you can always contact Mark Cahill and get some from him or go to Living Waters and get materials or Wretched… Mine says “My Story” on the front and then goes into a bit about me, my conversion, and of course the Gospel.  When I hand them to people I can say, would you like to read my story?  It’s kinda fun.  One guy at the car wash started reading it and yelled at me, hey, thanks!  People actually get saved from reading tracts believe it or not -true story.  I believe that a tract should not just be inviting people to church but that it should have a brief gospel message on it as well.  Contact information should be on the tract of course so that people can get ahold of you with questions or comments.  As I often times will tell people, not everyone will be a preacher but surely we should all be sharing the good news with those that we encounter.  Sharing the gospel will put a spring in your step because it will give you a joy to tell of His great glory!  You may run into some persecution, and possibly lose friends and family over sharing your faith, but be bold and tell the world of His love!

Well, on a side note, we MUST keep Jesus on our tongues.  He should be flowing from our lips and He should be the loy of our hearts.  If we aint preaching Jesus then are aint preaching.  I hear alot lately about theology, church, heresy, and lots of Christians attacking Christians especially on Facebook.  But simply said, we need to preach more about Jesus.  Are we “internet Christians” or “casting the net Christians”.  As my brothers and sisters at Change Collegian Network would attest, last year at their RW event I preached on just that.  Are we “Facebook christians” or “faith in the book Christians”?  Facebook Christians seem to be wanting to just attack everybody for their heresies and be armchair quarterbacking everything that is happening in the world.  They love to amen peoples postings and debate publicly their theology.  They are spending hours online vs. hours seeking the Lord.  They appear to be inreach centered and not outreach bound.  They are an everybody has done it wrong kind of person… A “faith in the book Christian” is swift to hear and slow to speak and slow to wrath…  A “faith in the book Christian knows that in time the Lord brings people around.  Now not everybody does Facebook and I realize that, and I also realize that FB is not ALL bad, but I am just trying to make a point that it can be very much abused…So let us just be a bit more long suffering and not so quick to go to our FB friends and fluff our feathers.  Kind of on the same note, I recently watched a youtube video that was about two minutes long.  A brother had referred me to it so I thought I would check it out. In a nutshell it was about a specific theology and as my brother explained it to me it really said it all in terms of this theology.  Well, I watched it and as it was finished I almost wept.  Not once in the two minutes did it mention the name of Jesus in this theology.  Not once did it mention that blood sacrifice in this theology.  Not once did it mention forgiveness for sins through Jesus as God.  What a wake up call!  Wow, I hope I’m talking about Jesus and blood.  Theology never saved anybody but Jesus can!  Let’s talk about Jesus.  Defs study to shew thyself approved unto God and in the mean time let’s talk about Jesus and the joy of the Lord!

I’ve been posting more videos on youtube so if you care to see my preaching going on in the streets then check those out.  If you don’t care to hear me preach on youtube then don’t go there.  If it is an encouragement to you then Praise the Lord.  If not, well then praise the Lord.  These videos are all just clips, entire messages are not posted for the most part.  So context is a bit hard to imagine at times but I hope they are an encouragement to you.  Here is a link to my youtube channel with some current videos: LINK and here is the message I preached at the Russian Church: LINK

Let’s keep praying for our brothers and sisters around North America that are under persecution for their boldness in sharing Jesus.  Of course there is the arrest and dismissal of charges to Jesse Boyd and Ricky springer, the arrest of Don Karns and Robert Parker preaching at the Princeton train station, to the threats to David Lynn in Toronto Canada.  Perhaps you have been following some of these stories at Christian News dot net

Finances, smchminances.  They are a big deal to us so please hear me out.  Lord willing I hope to do campus ministry this fall, again.  Some brothers are willing to let me join them at times so that is a blessing and it cuts down on costs.  But, it all costs money.  So, if you like the idea of me continuing to preach on Universities around the US, and in cities then please help support us.  I am willing to come to your church and preach so if you’d like I can do that as well.  Times are tough and yet many people are continuing to come along side us financially.  Please consider supporting us monthly, that would be a huge blessing or if you are already, thank you!

May the Lord bless you.  Let’s keep pressing on and let’s keep telling people about Jesus!
